Dear visitors,

The Pontifical Museums of Rome, epicenter of the cultural and artistic life of all Europe, house the most impressive collection of works of art of the Church. Located near the Basilica of San Tito, they display two banners on the outside, that of His Holiness the Pope and that of the Cardinal Chancellor of the Congregation of the Diffusion of the Faith, a Roman Dicastery under which the jurisdiction of the Museums falls.

The Museums, founded in 1466, keep within them certain works of art whose viewing is authorized to all those who decide to go to Rome. The inside of the Museums is a hospitable atmosphere and suitable for the conservation of the works themselves, the only condition for entry is not to be armed. The order inside is entrusted to the Roman Papal Guard.

For all visitors

Welcome to the Pontifical Museums of Rome!

The Holy Roman Church decided, years ago, to invest precious resources for the creation and preservation of works of art that will testify, in the centuries to come, to the greatness of God's creation. Religious works and secular works dwell in this place, protected by the peace of the times and by the maternal and vigilant gaze of Holy Mother Church, who watches over their state of conservation while the management has as its sole objective the expansion of the collection and the promotion of art in all the territories known to man.

Access is free and everyone is welcome, for any request, question or proposal, feel free to contact the Director Alessandro Della Scala [Yuri00].
