I've started this because I have a question regarding the positions of Archdeacon and Vicar Diocesan, and I suppose regarding the positions of First Archdeacon and Vicar General as well.

I understand that both the Archdeacon and Vicar Diocesan fulfill the role of second in charge of a diocese, and that the key difference is that the Vicar Diocesan is also an ordained priest whereas an Archdeacon just has to have Faithful status. But here's what I don't understand. Can a diocese have both an Archdeacon and a Vicar Diocesan, or can it only have one or the other? And likewise for the positions in archdioceses.

Yes, normally a(n) (arch)diocese can only have either a(n) (first) archdeacon or a vicar diocesan (or general), not both at the same time.
