Scese dalla carrozza e si ritrovò sul sagrato di fronte alla stupenda Basilica, sperava di essere arrivato in tempo, il lavoro in Consiglio era sempre tanto.
Fece cenno a Curzio, il suo fedele servitore tuttofare, di portare la carrozza dove vi erano le altre e si avviò all'ingresso...

Aveva ricevuto l'invito giorni prima in quanto membro del Consiglio Milanese, poteva essere solo una gentilezza ma ne era personalmente onorato.

Varcò il grande portone della Basilica, dopo essersi fatto il segno della croce si soffermò ad ammirarne l'interno, non era mai stato in quella Basilica e adesso ne ammirava lo splendore, un odore pungente di incenso lo investì, avanzò ancora di qualche passo e prese posto in un banco per assistere alla cerimonia.
Poi intonò il canto...

La carrozza si ferma non troppo distante dalla cattedrale, Ninfea aveva indossato il suo abito di seta blu con ricami in argento,i capelli perfettamente raccolti e impreziositi con dei piccoli fermagli di zaffiro blu

Scese dalla carrozza e prima di entrare ammirò la bellezza della Basilica,era la prima volta che si recava a Roma aveva ricevuto l’invito alla cerimonia dal suo caro amico Nesema e aveva accettato con immenso piacere,anche se era appena tornata da un lungo viaggio non avrebbe potuto e voluta mancare.

Varcò il portone della Basilica,fece una genuflessione e il segno della croce ..prese il posto a lei riservato e si unì al canto dei presenti.

finiti i preparativi riunì la famiglia nel grande salone , controllò i vestiti delle piccole diede un bacio al suo amore e si incammino per la carrozza , la quale li avrebbe portati a Roma, durante il viaggio i pensieri erano dai più vari,
Come servire la santa chiesa?
come proteggere il popolo?
quando avrebbe dovuto usare la sua spada? e quando invece usare la parola?
non disse parola alcuna durante il viaggio.
Non doveva avere dubbi , la mente lucida per quel momento solenne ,
era tra i suoi compagni ora , tutti pronti in formazione con in testa il Gran Maestro,a intonare un canto tutti insieme.

Era nera con intarsiato con un filo di seta nero il simbolo della diocesi di Reggio di cui era l'Amministratore Diocesano.
