It was a day of celebration for the Church, a day of joy and hope. Two new Cardinals were going to be elevated to the purple togehter.
The bells of the Basilica sounded calling the whole body of the faithful at the ceremony, because the two cardinals were of language and different origins, and belonged to two consistories geographically distant from one another, but united in the Church, that was one.
White and red flowers adorned the nave and the presbiterium of the huge basilica, in which people were beginning to gather.
After praying alone in the sacristy, as always, the Camerlengo put on her solemn vestments and waited to be called for the start of the celebration.
She reflected on the present and future of the Church.

Brother William Blazing, o.f.m was overexcited to attend the elevation of his bishop Vanyar to the rank of cardinal. He directed himself to the basilica and began praying for the cardinals.

Vanyar can feel some tension when he walks into the Basilica of Saint Titus. Of course he has been here before, but never in a ceremony that is for him. Taking a deep breath the old priest walks towards the altar, kneels down and has a short prayer to the Lord, thanking him for the trust that has been given to him. He then stands up again and walks towards the pews in the front of the Basilica where he is supposed to sit down. Then he sees his brother William in the Basilica already as well. He too is in a silent prayer, so it is best not to disturb him at this moment. So Vanyar sits down, waiting for what is about to happen and whom else will come into the Basilica. Most certainly he is looking forward to meet Varos from Portugal who will also be elevated to the rank of Cardinal. Vanyar has never met the good man before but he is looking forward to share this moment and ceremony with him.

After congratulating Vanyar on the news of the nomination, Father Pelenor made his way to the Basilica as quickly as he could, not wanting to miss a moment of this momentous ceremony.

Upon entering, Pelenor found a few others already in attendance, and smiled wryly at the time it'd taken him to arrive. His legs obviously weren't as good as he remembered from his youth.

Bowing his head silently, he whispered a few quick words of prayer in thanks, and then moved to take a seat in towards the middle of the arranged pews. Though he did nod in greeting to those already assembled, he kept mostly to himself - He hardly wanted to get in the way of this important ceremony.

The old cardinal von Frayner, who had made a point of honor to assist to every consistory since he was himself elected cardinal, was as always attending the office. As he went to take his usual chair among the other cardinals, he nodded to Vanyar, then started praying in silence.

The new Cardinal enters the Basilica of St Tito admired with such a beautiful staging, surely the Curia had not lost time in preparing everything for the great celebration of the two new cardinals.

Martim was so proud of himself and with his journey through the Roman and Aristotelian life, he had just begun and was already Cardinal, a sign that all his efforts so far had been worthy and that all his sacrifices had not been in vain.

Martim begins to walk down the aisle of the Basilica kneeling before Jah, praying to him a creed, thanking him for this opportunity. Almost without words the new cardinal continues to the altar, kissing the ring of the Camerlengo, and tilting his eyes down to all the cardinals and presents as a sign of respect for their status and for all their sacrifices.

The Cardinal entered the Basilica for the great event of the day. He took his place without much fuss, saluting along his way the various members of the clergy that he knew or had as acquaintances.

The prefect of the holy armies arrived in the basilica flanked by his fellow cardinals.
The moment was solemn because two new cardinals were coming to the top of the church to administer fairly and for the good of all the faithful.

Brother William heard the greeting of a knowing voice. When he looked up he saw Mother Anna. He turned to her and greeted her.

Welcome Mother, please take a seat.

...As many people before me I enter the Church as well. It has been a while since an Englishman was appointed to the rank of Cardinal. I have known Vanyar for quiet a while now and I belief that he is the right man on the right place now...

...Unfortunately I do not know Martim Varos yet, but since he has been named as Cardinal as well, I am equally pleased for him to be here. I walk along the church and sit down on one of the pews...

Greetings brothers and sisters, it is nice to see you once again in these halls.

Elysa enters the Basilica and is momentarily stunned by the amount of vestments that suddenly surround her. For a moment it was like she was back in the convent from where she had escaped before turning her back on Jah and becoming a faithful follower of Averroism. This was definitely not the place for someone like her. These were not "her people". And yet, there he was among them, Martin de Varos, the reason why she travelled all the way to Rome and was willing to risk getting caught in unfriendly territory... yet again. She smiled to herself as she observed how he behaved in such an environment, and for a moment forgot where she was. The flow of more people arriving took her out of her reverie and brought her back to the situation at hand. She needed to find a place to sit without them noticing her unwanted presence, so she moved as quietly as she could while chanting to herself: Easy now... just act normal... do not call attention to yourself, pretend you are one of them... Remember, you do not want to end up burning at the stake... One step at a time... try to look inconspicuous... that's it, almost there... now sit Ly. The young moor sits down at the back and peeks through her lashes to see if someone is looking at her suspiciously. As she finds no angry looks thrown her way, she gradually relaxes into her seat and patiently waits for the, no doubt very long, ceremony to begin.

Marc entered in the basilica. It was the first time in his young life but he had heared is late uncle speaking about it so much... He tries not to look too obviously at the amazing decorations.

He takes place in one of the last rows of pews. Suddenly, he discovers with pleasure that some Teutonic Brüder were sitting among the cardinals. The old Ordenkaplan von Frayner and his godfather, the erster Botschafter Hull of Northshire.

Listening to the people speaking around him, he discovers what was the purpose of this ceremony. One of the two new cardinals was from England. The name of another cardinal came in his mind, Latan. The late Latan who years ago was the English representative in the Curia, when his late uncle was one of the French ones.

====
