Like every time, it was the duty of the outgoing Camerlengo to organize and celebrate the ceremony for her successor.
Her mandate had expired, and it was time to clear her mind from the weight of those six months full of responsibility and work. She had said that she would not be candidate again, and she had kept her word, as always.
The outgoing Camerlengo had laid down the insigna and prepared in the sacristy of the basilica, praying after wearing the vestments.
She will charge on the shoulders of the new Camerlengo the weight of a future that promised to be full of clouds, changes and uncertainties.
She had served as Camerlengo with her usual force and firmness of an unshakable faith, but the first white hair testified to her exhaustion - physical, not moral.
The bells of the basilica rang clear, calling the faithful and all the Aristotelian clergy to the ceremony. She prayed, and thanked the Almighty for using her as a tool to combat heresy.
“Future is future...” she was thinking.

*****

With the spring, the sunny days returned to the Eternal City after the winter. It was already six months since Rehael had passed the torch, with anxiety for the future of the Church confronted with problems, and now it was Aymé Von Frayner who was invested of the difficult job of Camerlengo. The old Plantagenest was happy, and had confidence in his friend to lead the Curia in an exemplary manner. How long did they know each other ? Ten years ? Moreover ? Both had many memories in common, and their old friendship had gone through the history of the Church.

At the call of the bells, Rehael entered the Basilica of Saint Titus and settled on a bench. He was now waiting for the arrival of the new camerlengo.

----

Palladio was visibly pleased with the enthronement of the new camerlengo. Difficult times were lived in Rome, with several congregations and halls with difficulties. The old Cardinal Lusophone believed that the new Camerlengo, dynamic and great connoisseur, would have a very arduous task ahead. The status of Camerlengo is not a reward but a mission that will require a lot of work. The spring afternoons of April seemed to announce the coming of good times.

The Franciscan friar entered the place once again to see the ceremony of another camerlengo. He always comes around to offer his prayers for the newly elect. He took a seat and began praying.

Quietly, the teutonic Bewerber and young deacon enter in the basilica and find a pew in the rear end. He knows the new camerlingo and some of the cardinals and is happy to join this ceremony.

The young Bishop of Reggio di Lombardia entered the Basilica covered by a dark green cloak. On gloves, embroidered coat of arms of the Archdiocese of Ravenna. His blond wavy hair fell to his shoulders and framed a diaphanous face. He found place and sat down.

Cardinal Arnarion always had a respect for the old cardinal whom he nicknamed affectionately "venerable". He had been there during his first steps as Bishop in Lorraine and had been there for his first as a cardinal. He was glad that a man of this wisdom became the voice of the Curia. They had known each other for a few years now and Arnarion hoped to be one day as calm and wise as this old man who was enthroned today.

Without a noise, unwilling to break the solemn silence of the basilica, he went to the stalls devoted to the Sacred College, beyond the parapet of white stone, framing the pontifical canopy. He bowed deeply before the Holy Father and went and sat among the cardinals.

Eloin could attend the enthronement of the camerlingo. At first, she considered that it was a part of the duties of a cardinal, to attend the consistories and the enthronements of her peers. Then, and especially, she had, for a long time, a big respect for Aymé.

She had known him when she had made her debuts for the Nunciature, and their ways had often crossed since. A mutual respect and a respective listening had always governed their labor relations.

Today, she was proud, and happy, to see him reaching the highest function after that of Pope, even if she suspected the enormous responsibility which would weigh on his shoulders for the next six months.

When bells rang, Eloin left its housing and joined the basilica. Then entered, greeted those who were already there, and went to settle down near her French-speaking colleagues. And prayed for the future of the Church, while waiting for the beginning of the ceremony.

Entering the great Basilica, His Eminence Edoardo felt every step heavier and heavier: that was the umpteenth time he attended such a huge and important ceremony and he knew that it had been a long time since he had been appointed as a Cardinal, and so many Camerlengo passed their role to other Cardinals, every one trying to do at their best for the Holy Church.

And he felt aged and experienced, but all the signs were becoming changes of an Institution that maybe wasn't any more the same he entered really many years before.

When he sat, ready for the celebration, he started to pray silently, sure that the Almighty would have been present beyond all doubt.

This morning moving in the room of the fathers, she found an invitation for submission to the Gregorian brothers and sisters. She took the parchment and lute attentively the missive. No possible doubt, their loved Aymé brother reached the post of Cardinal-Camerlingue and invited them to its establishment in the Saint-Titus Basilica.

The mother wanting to miss that under no pretext, prepared quickly: White cassock for the occasion, its Gregorian cross suspended with its neck, and its chain which never left its wrist. She made call by the verger their large prior and their vice-chancellor and requested them to join her.

Penetrating in the Basilica she recognized Réhael Eminence, and of course its professor the Eminence Eloin, she greeted them of a gracious sign of head while seeking his Uter brother of the glance in order to be able to congratulate it warmly. Then in any discretion it assied at the bottom of the basilica while waiting for the beginning of the ceremony.

***********************************

Work again and again, but finally Melian succeed to free herself to go to the enthronement of His Eminence Uter. She had made a stop to change her clothes for a more adapted dress, and followed by Louison and Selene, she took the way of the Basilica.

She particularly loved this place. Not just because of its magnificence, which was as real as breathtaking, but simply because of the asmosphere reaching from it.

It was so a double pleasure to come. She greeted every one with respect and go to sit near His Eminence Rehael, few benches behind in her place of course, and waited the beginning of the ceremony.

🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
One of the members of the Teutonic Order was going to be consecrated to a supreme post, there was no question of letting go of such an opportunity to find all the Brothers and Sisters.

Ceronnie had prepared herself carefully to attend this great ceremony, and it was clothed in the famous white cloak, struck with the black cross, that she went to Rome.

It was a long time since the young woman had not come here, the place was still beautiful. After discreetly greeting the people present, she went and sat down among her own.
