El monarca català, acompanyat per en Pere, es va dirigir al Palazzo Doria. Qualsevol excusa és bona per visitar un dels palaus de Roma i si a més es té l'oportunitat d'assistir a una festa, millor que millor. Ja a l'interior de l'edifici, el català es va veure envoltat de gent desconeguda mes no es va incomodar par per aquell situació, al cap i a la fi estava acostumat als esdeveniments multitudinaris.

Amb discreció, es va allunyar lleugerament del jove Arquebisbe de Tarragona i va dedicar la major part del seu temps passejant i admirant les obres d'art que cobrien les parets.

—El Cardenal Kalixtus sembla una persona interessant...—va comentar-li a en Pere mentre es dirigien al saló de ball.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Catalan monarch, accompanied by Pere,went to Palazzo Doria. Any excuse is good to visit a palace in Rome and if you also have the opportunity to attend a party, all the better. Already inside the buiding, the catalan was surrounded by unknown people but he was not bothered by that situation, after all he was used to massive events.
Discreetly, he slightly moved away from the young Archbishop of Tarragona and spent most of his time strolling around and admiring the artwork that covered the walls.
—Cardenal Kalixtus seems to be an interesting person...—he mentioned to Pere while they were walking to the ballroom.
After exchanging a few words with the German King and Alecsander leaving to see his mother Tjara finds herself next to him again a while later. She had lost sight of her favourite Russian, for what seemed just to be a few minutes. She knew though that he would be in good hands with his family. However, the person who was supposed to make sure he didn't get lost, of all people, lost him and her own sense of time and being. But then again … how couldn’t she? The palace and garden are mesmerising, the scent of the orange trees and the food is bewitching and the music on top of chatter and laughter makes the whole atmosphere so enchanting that one could easily think they are in another world. The young woman doesn’t know about the rest of the guests but she sure is. It’s all so unreal to her. Tjara can’t help herself feeling out of place. Too small a fish in this great ocean of high-ranked people and sumptuous extravagance. However she doesn’t let it stop her from enjoying the soiree in full swing. As she is beaming in excitement, not knowing what to expect from the unveiling of this mysterious masterpiece, her gaze wanders over to the windows, in which the interior of the ballroom and all the people in it blend with the roofs of Rome and the moon outside, playing tricks on her eyes. The piece of art is unveiled and everything is surreal.
    Kalixtus was all excited and nodded to Guglielmo.
    My friends, it's time. Guglielmo, the artist and creator of this new exhibit will reveal the showcase in which his work will be displayed.
    Maybe you'll say a few words when you've unveiled it. So everyone knows what a masterpiece it is.
    For each of today's guests it will be possible to take a look or two.
    Kalixtus made an inviting gesture.
      Soiree at Palazzo Doria Pamphilj
      Kalixtus sat at the oval table in the red salon in the background hung paintings by Filippo Tommaso Lippi and Sandro Botticelli, they were part of his Florentine shopping tour. While his palazzo in Florence is still being renovated according to his needs, the beautiful works were already stored here. The Cardinal himself had been able to watch the young Botticelli at work. He still smelled the oil that the handsome young man needed to mix the colours. He was so energetic when painting. Kalixtus could watch him for hours.
      But memories were one thing, now it was time to welcome his guests for a small soiree. On his table were a few documents on the subject of Croatia.
    A slightly tanned Alecsander enters the red salon, dressed in Italian fabrics. His step is a sign of the self-confidence he has gained during the journey, and a smile surrounds his lips as the door is immediately opened and he can enter. He greets "Uncle!" in a joyful voice and would embrace him before sitting down. It is a blessing for him to see Kalixtus, as it has been every time, even if only a few days have passed since the last meeting.
        Kalixtus had his pince-nez on his nose and was studying the documents when Alecsander entered. Alecsander, good to see you. Take a seat and help yourself. Kalixtus pointed to the étagere with the many small smoked delicacies and the biscuits next to a pot of freshly brewed tea, which stood in a silver pot on a warmer. The cool season was not for Kalixtus. Perhaps he will emigrate to Egypt, where he will count grains of sand.
        How are you, handsome.
      Oh, how he loves tea. And the cold season. First of all, his business with furs and fabrics buzzes much more than in summer and secondly, there is hardly anything more beautiful for him than to trudge through icy snow and feel the cold on his skin. With words of thanks he pours himself a drink and stirs Warenje into his tea to sweeten it. "Fabulous, to be honest. Although I miss some friends, the journey through the country has given me many experiences and impressions". He points to the new pictures in the room. "And obviously even more so to you," he chuckles. "But tell me, how are you?" Although he is almost bursting with curiosity and is holding himself and his temper, he is naturally interested in the well-being of his counterpart.
          Soiree at Palazzo Doria Pamphilj
          Kalixtus looked at the new paintings and smiled gently. My passion cannot be hidden. Art is an expression of divine power. A talent to change reality. An act of creation that creates something that was not there before. The artist swings himself to God only to fail in creation. He copies, animates or exaggerates reality, freezes it and exhibits a story with it. He creates the illusion of a reality. This is charged with meaning and drama and liveliness in an act of representation that is often only a play of light and shadow.
          Finally, at the end of this work, this is also proof of human nature - which, despite everything, produces no life, no soul, no spirit. This alone is left to God and yet man is able to separate the beautiful from the ugly and thus he judges. Art is therefore always also an expression of man's attempt to find God, to be God and to submit to God, and in all this God rests as Opus Magnum, as Creator, as Participant and Spirit.
          Because without him, all is nothing.
          Hunger always put a man to a great test. *Hunger is a gift from God*, Krasoljub thought as he, in a caravan, approached Rome and the palace of his good friend Kalixtus. His old priestly robes hung on his thin and pale body. Such a sight refused even the vagrants to ask him for a gold coin. The church in the Croats was poor, heretical conquests did their thing, the treasury was empty. The last gold coins, bishop spent on safe passage through the kingdoms.
          ...
          The servants, after a long conviction that Krasoljub was a bishop and not some deceiver, escorted him to the far-known red salon. The smells of tea and the sounds of pleasant conversation made their way even through the closed door.
          The servants opened the door wide.
          Pax Vobiscum , brothers.
            Soiree at Palazzo Doria Pamphilj
            Kalixtus looked up as his good friend Augustin entered the room. He was glad to see him, after all the troubles on the Balkans it was a blessing to see him.
            Laudetur Dominum. He greeted the cleric and indicated to help himself to tea and pastries and to sit down.
            First, let me introduce you to each other, gentlemen. Bishop Augustin Krasoljub Iločki. Bishop of Vrbovsko. Or are you already an archbishop? Kalixtus smiled.
            And this is Father Alecsander Ivanowitsch de Montfort-Beaumont d'Autevielle. My nephew and enthusiastic clergyman in the name of the Lord. At the moment military chaplain of the German Kingdom and delegate of the clergy in the German Diet.
            Welcome to this small working meeting. Afterwards we will dine together.
            But first of all, Augustin, you are so kind as to explain your request to us.
          After a brief introduction to Father Alecsander and kissing the cardinal's soft hands, Krasoljub sat down at the table, sipped hot tea, and said:
          Thank you your eminence,
          As you know, the Holy Father Sixtus IV, in the new apostolic constitution "Croatorum Fidelium Curae" set a new ecclesiastical territorial organization in Croatia. After these changes, one diocesan seat remained vacant. More precisely, exactly what His Eminence mentioned in his very high-quality joke earlier, dioces Vrbovsko as and faithful of that diocese would be left without their pastor, their spiritual father. My task, as the current bishop in the diocese of Vrbovsko, and in the future, I hope, the archbishop of Rijeka, is to ensure a quality replacement. Due to the lack of priests in our Kingdom of Croatia, I was forced to seek help from a person in whom I have full confidence, His Eminence Kalixtus, to help me and Croatian faithfuls in finding best solution that will be blessed by the Almighty.
          I am open to any questions that interest you.
              Soiree at Palazzo Doria Pamphilj
              Kalixtus smiled with pleasure. I called Father Alecsander in because he is interested in working with you. He has been one of the best students at the university and has passed theology with flying colours. An engagement in Croatia could give him a decisive insight into the nature of the dicastics but also the diaspora. I think this experience is essential.
              He will also be able to broaden the catechesis and the level of education on the spot and thus his path will serve the CDF, then this would be active spreading of the faith.
              Have you consulted with Eminence Arduino Della Scala? Does he give you a free hand in the question of filling offices within the national Church in the Kingdom of Croatia? Of course I insist on the observance of normal procedures within the Church. Although Alecsander will prove to be a great stroke of luck for the Croatian Church and the Balkans. An extremely learned young man, with excellent language skills.
              He would of course need support in Croatian, and he would depend on your help. But together this complicated task is certainly much easier to manage. Especially with regard to the necessary political and church structures, which would be important for Croatia and the Balkans. Here in Rome it must beat - the heart of Aristotelism.
              I suppose you intend to revive all the old?
              I can think of a few more questions. Is there the option of a convoy from Italy to Croatia through Venice. I would be reluctant to send my young nephew to Croatia alone.
              Also, tell us a little more about the future plans you have for the restoration and revival of the National Church of Croatia locally and here in Rome.
              Kalixtus tasted a pastry filled with cream, licked it off his fingers and looked at Augustin.
            After, of course, duly greeting Bishop Augustin, he listens to the words of the two men with visible attention and wakefulness in his eyes. Croatia. "It would be a great honour for me to work with you and learn from you. I am very docile, hard-working and I hope you will find that I am neither afraid of criticism nor able to give exceptional cause for it," he says with a gentle smile on his lips and an upright sitting posture, his hands loosely around his tea. He is absolutely thrilled by this challenge and is patiently waiting for the answers the bishop would give to Kalixtus' questions.
            It took him a few moments to think about the questions he had heard ...
            Of course, in a private conversation with His Eminence Arduino Della Scala , we came to the conclusion that another bishop is needed on the territory of the Kingdom of Croatia and He give me a „free hand“ to find someone who is worthy and possesses qualities for that service.
            Father Alecsander delighted me with his very appearance, I think he will fit great with the community and the faithfuls will accept him, and of course, he would have all the support and help from me in our work. I hope we will grow together in service and faith and spread Aristotle's words.
            As you know, under the occupation of the infidels, Aristotle's church in Croats was oppressed. We meet in secret places to perform baptisms, weddings and other sacraments as well as the Holy Mass itself. We must humbly and I would say missionarily spread the word of Aristotle and God wherever we can, taverns, town squares, we simply have to come among the people. We must also reach an agreement with the bishops of Hungary in order to build a stable primacy. There are still things that are needed, but these are somehow fundamental, hard work awaits us, but the Church is also needed on the fringes of civilization.
            Regarding the convoy, it is a long way. I will try to find someone who will be able to break through among the unbelievers armies and help Alecsander on the journey. I will write the details in the letters.
            From the long speech his mouth went dry, his gaze shifted to tea.
              Okay - I'll send an escort - which will lead Alecsander safely to Croatia. I have some capacity free of men and women who usually take care of my safety - they will take my nephew into custody in Croatia.
              I hold you responsible for the safety of my nephew, Krasoljub. I want you to understand that I will not tolerate anything happening to him.
              If one hair on his head is harmed, I will personally see to it that your ass is put on a spit in the Ottoman Empire for the amusement of the people of Constantinople.
              Are there any further questions?
