[St.Titus basilica, Vatican, Rome. After the St.Titus feast mass]

Ite, Missa Est. The holy mass was said. Although most of the priest were gone St.Titus basilica was still full of the pump of light and the clouds of incense while its venerable walls still trembled with the thunder of the great organs. It was now another sort of ceremony which's going to take place among the noble of the Papal states. Here and there knights and squire, lords and count, marquess, dukes and princes from everywhere within the states of the Church have been called. Ferrara, Romagna, Campagna and Marittima, Pesaro, Urbino, Umbria, Ancona, Camerino, Orvieto, Spoleto, Sabina, the patrimony of St.Titus and the Latium... they were all gathered under their banners around the pontifical throne.

The venerable and golden throne of the Prince of the Apostles stood there as a timeless artifact under the holy Cross, where the vicar of Christos received the faithful and ruled the imperium of the universal Church. It was surrounded by the pontifical guard, proud feather and steel halberdiers who protected the Pope with their lives.

Regarding the Archancellor he was there too alongside the Sovereign Pontiff. His duck on his arms was sleeping quietly.

Your Holiness - he said. We may start whenever you want.

The Archbishop and Apostolic Nuncio of Valencia arrived at the place where, along with other great religious and laity, they would be blessed by the Holy Father. The silence entered, greeted those present and went to the right place.

The viscount of Morlupo, in his grief, was summoned to pledge alliegance anew to His Holiness on the occasion of annual Saint Titus feast, who was the first pope of the the Church. Even though Cesare found it very nice to be bound to pledge an annual oath in such a date, according to the convocation, the lost of his wife was a plague he could never recover. This was the reason he only came to the ceremony, and sadly avoided the mass before. He came with Vittoria, their first child. She wasold enough to be quiet and he was already known in Hagenau to be a very well-behaved girl. Both were weaing black clothes, to respect their mourning, which would be for the rest of his life.

So the sad widower came with his daughter, and her governess, to show her what she would have to do when time would ask her to do, as she was his heiress. When Cesare looked at her, he only saw her mother. This is with a mix of joy to be there and their daily sorrow they enter within the Basilica under the patronnage of Saint Titus, here in Rome, where the pope was sat, Arnarion the archancellor, and cousin of Cesare, alongside His Holiness and dicussing with Alexandre. Perhaps at the end of the beautiful ceremony he would present to his cousin little Lassa. So they sat don and waited.

The Hochmeister and Landmeister of the Teutonic Order was informed of the ceremony and traveled again from Prussia to Rome. The trip, which lasted for weeks, was difficult and expensive for the Teutonic Order. The Hochmeister entourage was large and had to be taken care of.
Arrived in Rome, the Hochmeister and the other Teutonic Order members moved into the Teutonic House. Here everyone rested before going to the ceremony.

On the day of the ceremony, the Hochmeister und Landmeister and his entourage went to church, lined up in splendid uniform and formation.

Enrique Legrat Villanueva had received the letter in his residence in Rome, soon arranged his service to go to the Basilica of San Titus where, surely, the high Aristotelian society would congregate. Once again he attended such events, feeling pleased for that reason. He soon found himself before the portals of the great Roman building, symbol of faith and spiritual greatness, chair of the Roman Pontiff.
Dressed austerely and elegantly, he entered the Basilica. In the distance he observed the Archbishop of Valencia, whom he knew would be taken as a papal noble; a slight coming and continued his walk to the place intended for him.

Melian had followed her husband, accompanied by their four children and three servant ladies to channel everyone without too much difficulty. She had put on one of her favourite outfits made by Sister Adelheid.

When they arrived, they were shown the places assigned to them and they took their places peacefully, discreetly greeting those present without disturbing them any further.

...

This year point of riding with swallowed flanges towards Rome. It was in litter that she had travelled from her Helvetian mountains. A comfortable litter, open and covered with a kind of canopy, carried by two black Friesians. At the end of this long and exhausting journey, however, she had enjoyed the view of the Tiber and its laces from Monte Mario on the Via Francigena, the route used by pilgrims to reach Rome. A saving rest, a few ablutions and the brunette, impeccably dressed, despite the stifling heat, in a modest linen green cottard made of hemp cloth that her summer coat partially covered, her fierce hair held back by a veil of modesty, crossed the threshold of the Basilica of St. Titus, with a measured step, still impressed by the grandeur of the monument. As she contemplated the frescoes on the ceiling, the flame of the candles was reflected in her green plums. She walked up the span, dabbing her face and neck with a small square of silk, delighted by this unexpected freshness. She politely greeted those already present with a nod and sat down a few chairs away.

Visiting Rome and specially the St. Titus Basilica was always very enlifting Laurentz.
With his wife and his squire he had attended the mass and was now waiting among the other papal nobles to swear allegiance to the pope.

*****

Cardinal Fenice arrived for the ceremony of the oath to His Holiness. The Basilica was beginning to get crowded. She recognized some faces and greeted them with a smile and a blessing gesture.
It was pleasant to find oneself in the relative darkness and coolness of the immense church. She quickly reached the place that had been reserved for her and sat down, looking around and reflecting.
Every year there were new ennoblements and the renewal of the oath of those who were already noble. Loyalty to the Pope and the Church, a choice of life, a bond which, beyond titles, meant Friendship and Faith.

The Cardinal had received the invitation to attend the ceremony of the Oath of Allegiance to the Pope, and after entering the great basilica she looked around.
It was always a beautiful feeling to be inside the great basilica. She felt protected and at home.
She greeted with a smile who she knew and slowly walked towards the place assigned to her, remaining ecstatic to look at the masterfully painted high ceilings.

Ettore arrived at the basilica in high uniform to attend the ceremony of the Oath of Allegiance to the Pope. He entered the Basilica and took his place in the pew reserved for him, greeting an old friend sitting a little further away.

It was a duty to take an oath in church. So when she received its invitation, she did'nt hesitate to travel, to honour the Pope with the greatest respect. She presented herself in a rather humble dress and she entered, greeting people, smiling and sitting in the reserved place.
