Our dear brother Gropius has passed away. He was in his home and died peacefully. The funeral rite is being organized and will be held here in Rome, as was his last will.

Death of the Cardinal Arduino Della Scala, Dean of the Sacred College of the Cardinals We, the Cardinals of the Holy Aristotelian, Universal and Roman Church, reunited in our Sacred College, under the Light of Saints and Prophets and by the Grace of the Most High and of the His Holiness Sixtus IV, With extreme consternation and indescribable grief, the Sacred College of the Cardinals received the information that, on today's date, His Eminence Cardinal Arduino Della Scala, Prince of Viterbo, Marquis of Santa Marinella, Grand Audiencier of the Holy See and Dean of the Sacred College of the Cardinals, passed away at Palazzo Della Scala alla Lungara, his Roman Residence. One of the most prominent Deans of the Sacred College of the Cardinals, the Cardinal Arduino Della Scala, after a long life of tireless work in the Difusion of the Faith, especially during his work as Apostolic High Commissioner, and of fierce combat against heresy, defending the True Faith, the Holy Mother Church and the Inalienable Dogma, bid farewell to this earthly world to join the Creator, the Prophets, the Saints and Blesseds, and our beloved brethren in the Solar Paradise. In respect and in honor of the memory of our Eminent Brother, the Sacred College of the Cardinals decrees a period of official mourning, for a period of seven (7) days, in all the Basilicas, Cathedrals, Parishes, Churches, Abbeys and Chapels of Holy Mother Aristotle, Universal and Roman Churches. During this period, all altars should be properly veiled and the bells of the Churches should be rung every hour in memory of our deceased brother. The Funeral of His Eminence, the Eminent Cardinal will be held in the Basilica of Saint Titus, with the honors befitting him as Dean of the the Sacred College of the Cardinals, on March 24, 1471, the Day of Saint Gabriel the Archangel, and the entire Aristotelian Community is invited to join the Sacred College of the Cardinals in saying the last Farewell to our Eminent Brother. Before departing this world, His Eminence gathered his last strength to write a farewell message that we share here with the entire Aristotelian Community. Given the vacancy of the office, according to the applicable canonical norms, the current Vice-Dean assumes the office of Dean of the Sacred College and is in charge of ensuring the fulfillment of the remainder of the mandate. Given in Rome, on the seventeenth day of March in the Year of Grace MCDLXXI, Day of St. Sylphael, Archangel, V of the Pontificate of His Holiness Sixtus IV and III of the Age of Restoration of the Faith Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam! We, His Most Reverend Eminence Cardinal Arduino Della Scala, Dean of the Sacred College of Cardinals, Grand Audiencier of the Holy See, Prince of Viterbo and Marquis of Santa Marinella, Baron Palatine of St. John Lateran, Golden Star of the Order of the Star of Aristotle we announce our death. Our soul can no longer pass through this miserable world and yearns to submit to the Judgement of the Most High in the hope of being reunited with Him and to enjoy eternally the bliss of the Solar Paradise. We bid farewell to all our sons and daughters, our brothers and sisters in the Faith, and to them I renew my most vibrant exhortation to fight ceaselessly for the Faith and for the Holy Roman and Universal Aristotelian Church and the Supreme Pontiff, our guide in the darkness of this present afflicted by malevolence, selfishness and heresy. I have dedicated the entirety of my life to the Church and the Faith at the risk of appearing hated by many. Of this I have no regrets. Honours and laurels, false smiles and condescending lies are of no use if the soul is corrupted and the person becomes the servant of his own greed and self-love. Noble titles, prestigious offices, palaces and castles are dust in the wind of history. What remains imperishable is our soul and the example we set as we travelled this short stretch that is mortal life. Beware of the temptations of vanity that lead to the betrayal of the principles of the Faith. May the Most High bless you and be Strong in the Faith, always! Pray for my soul. It is not easy to say goodbye to a colleague and friend, it is a tragedy that I don't think anyone expected. Della Scala is unrepeatable, but I think he has left an important legacy in Rome with his work and with his fierce defence of the Aristotelian Faith.

I think Arduino deserves the best funeral and tribute we can give him; Adonnis and I are working on that. Would any of you here like to take an active part in the various funeral rites? Are there any prelates: archbishops or Italian bishops who were friends of Arduino's who you think would like to participate?
