A peine débarqué en Gascogne Gerei reçu une invitation de Rome. Qui? Quoi? Pourquoi? Se demanda t il.

Après quelques minutes de réflexions, il en arriva à la conclusion de toute évidence erronée que ses textes sur les gastéropodes étaient enfin parvenus jusqu'aux Saintes Oreilles. Ses théories finement rodées sur la prédominance de la science aristotéliciennes avaient enfin été entendues dans les hautes sphères et tout naturellement il allait être félicité et récompensé pour ses longs travaux et les nombreux articles (trop) qu'il y avait consacré. Sans aucun doute sa retraite au monastère de Sainte Illinda pour peaufiner ses recherches et ses articles en Guyenne faisant l'éloge de la science aristotélicienne avaient fini par être lu par d'autres que ces crétins du conseil ducal Guyennois et rapportés jusqu'au Saint Siège.
C'est donc ravi et fier comme un [strike]cardinal[/strike], maquignon un jour de marché qu'il se rendit dans la magnifique basilique romaine.

Il y avait déjà du monde et il fut surpris de voir tant de connaissances. En effet un petit groupe de gascon était déjà là à discuter entre eux. La bonne humeur semblait de mise.

Le duc de Lapalisse avait été surpris du courrier reçu. Il pensait bien être nommé sur un courrier, mais de là à recevoir une distinction, et qui plus est à un rang de marque, c'était autre chose. L'Aurillacois était curieux de savoir ce qui avait concouru à cette nomination. Il y avait bien entendu la non-reconnaissance de l'union civile lorsqu'il était duc du Bourbonnais-Auvergne, mais commandeur? Il était curieux de voir comment les choses allaient se passer.

Curieux oui, mais surtout honoré.

Le voyage jusqu'à Rome avait été long, mais heureusement, lui et Noeline avait pu bénéficier de haltes reposantes. Ils avaient notamment fait comme chez eux dans les châteaux d'Hector et d'Inès. Si, si, ils sont au courant! La basilique Saint-Titus se tenait devant eux, le show allait pouvoir commencer.
