Yossi traversa fièrement la neffe de la Basilique.

Plus il avançait vers le chœur, plus l'atmosphère devenait sacrée.

Tout n'était qu'ordre et beauté, luxe, calme et, de merveilleux vitraux, aux couleurs chatoyantes, laissaient filtrer les rais lumineux que projetait un beau soleil d'été.

Puis il se faufila parmi les fidèles Aristotéliciens qui étaient venus assister à cette divine Célébration.

Avec le chapelet à la main et son inséparable livre des vertus, il se recueillit puis se mit à prier.

Felipe entered the monumental Basilica along with the other cardinals, because it was the day of the great solemnity of St. Titus, one of the most important days in the Aristotelian calendar when the entire city of Rome was preparing for great festivities. Entering the most important temple in the West always made him feel very small, frail and mortal, but at the same time it filled him with the sanctifying Grace of God. He walked slowly beside the elder Heldor. He didn't know whether to offer him an arm to make the monk walk more securely, because sometimes the old men were grumpy when someone reminded them of the passage of years and the loss of the vigour proper of youth.

Finally the vice-chancellor took his seat waiting for the entrance procession of the Holy Father and the beginning of the papal mass. He lingered for a while reading his prayer book while occasionally glancing up to look for familiar faces in the congregation.

Solemn feast day... Cardinal Fenice walked slowly through the streets around the Basilica of St Titus, allowing herself to be distracted by the swarming of people and the bright colours of the festive clothes.
She limped along, leaning on her pastoral staff, looking tired and pained, but her eyes shone indomitably.
She finally crossed the threshold of the huge basilica and proceeded to her seat, greeting those she knew.
The start of the celebration would not be long in coming.

The cardinal was sitting in his seat, waiting for the solemn mass to begin.
She thought back to those who were absent and a knot tightened in her throat.
She tried to hold back the tears, thinking that he who was no longer there was now enjoying the sunny paradise and who knows, perhaps they could be close to her in another form.

... La Basilique, aisément reconnaissable grâce à son profil élancé et les échancrures de son architecture, était assez éloignée de son Viscomtat de Poli, aussi elle se leva de bon matin, alors que l'aube palissait à peine les étoiles...

Lorsqu'elle fut rendue sur le parvis, elle vit aux nombreux attelages que plusieurs personnes devaient être déjà présentes à l'Office proprement dit. Aussi elle hâta le pas jusqu'à la Nef, et là elle se recueillit un moment, avant de pénétrer plus avant à son tour sous les voûtes d'une des plus célèbres Demeures Du Très-Haut.

Elle est enfin dans la place : elle s'installe doucement à sa siège, non sans sourire de loin à Yossi, arrivé avant elle.

La messe de Saint Titus n'étant pas débutée, sa songerie l'emporte d'abord vers les images de son passé religieux, ce qui la fait sourire ; puis elle se tourne vers la Prière, qui n'est ni une supplication ni une plainte.
Dès cet instant, fervente et concentrée, elle se sent totalement éloignée du monde habituel et quotidien et en Partage avec le Divin.

... L'astre solaire matinal vient lécher les vitraux chamarrés et catéchistes (c'est tout de même leur fonction première, avant celle d'ornementation de tout édifice religieux) et ceux-ci reflètent au sol leurs images floues et richement colorées.
Les vieilles dalles de la Basilique de l'allée centrale semblent peintes par endroits des merveilleuses histoires de l'Aristotélisme...

The sun bathed the sky over Rome in golden light as the day of the special ceremony dawned. In the winding streets of the city, a tense atmosphere prevailed as the cardinals from all parts of the world made their way to the majestic Roman basilica. Their robes fluttered in the gentle morning breeze, and their steps were filled with solemn significance.

Before the imposing entrance of the basilica, the cardinals gathered, flanked by a magnificent procession of clergy, deacons, and acolytes. The priests carried burning candles, their flames flickering in time with the festive music, while the scent of incense filled the square.

The bells of the basilica rang out, announcing the start of the procession. The massive door opened slowly, and the cardinals proceeded in an orderly line. Their splendid red garments adorned with golden embroidery attested to their high rank in the Church.

A reverent silence fell over the crowd as the cardinals moved slowly through the nave. The faithful and pilgrims rose from their seats, bowing their heads in humility. Some knelt down to show their reverence. Many of them had undertaken a long journey to witness this significant event.

Je suis un peu en retard quand j'arrive enfin à la Basilique pour la messe de St-Titus. C'est un événement que j'ai trop souvent manqué, soit par manque de temps, soit par péché d'acédie. Je m'en suis confessée et repentis depuis et il est maintenant hors de question que je manque l'événement.

C'est avec mes habits d'été, ceux épiscopaux, que j'arrive dans la Basilique. J'ai le visage un peu terne, les yeux cernés par les longues nuits de prière, mais un éclat brille dans mes yeux. En arrivant, donc, j'ai un salut pour les visages que je reconnais. Je m'avance dans les rangs et m'installe un peu en retrait, quoi que pas trop. À l'arrivé du cortège précédé par Son Éminence Kalixtus, je sourie un peu plus. C'est bon d'entendre les prières s'élever dans la nef. C'est beau aussi.

Je lève les yeux vers le ciel et je sourit. Ma fatigue est disparue.
