Where is the dean?

Shall we have the Swiss Guard look for him. I notice that the periodic absence of the dean is now going on longer and longer. I see we have a leadership that is withdrawing more and more and Rome soon resembles ancient ruins.

I worry more seriously than ever these days about this circumstance, which inevitably adds to the chaos around us.

We have serious issues that have landed on the tableau of processing and hear nothing from the Dean or Vice-Dean, and nothing from the Pope who should be calling the appropriate Congregations acting in his name to do their work.

I am not pleased with this current situation and I must strongly remind everyone that our service here in the Curia and to the body of the Church is VOCATION and not a fun event that we take on in between.

Nor do I want to hear unnecessary, because baseless, excuses about things like - I have so much to do in my diocese, I can't do anything. We all know that these are pseudo excuses.

I can only seriously advise that all those who think they are not up to the job of cardinal because they are busy with their own diocese and work on the local level, then these cardinals should give up their responsible positions and make room for people who can still do this job and who will not allow this Church to be led into the abyss of ruins.

This also applies to the dean, who inevitably has to ask himself this question when he has not been seen for more than half a month without a sign-off or an indication that he has withdrawn to the conclave.

This state of affairs is no longer acceptable. This criticism affects the entire leadership of the Church.

Aren't there next Deans Election soon?

Since the Dean as well as his Vice aren't present i recommanded that the Chancellery should start the electoral process the moment it is needed.

Or, the Pope himself.

"So, we now have the situation: Cardinal Adonnis has been missing for a month, and he was last seen in Rome a month ago (last seen 31st of July).

I pray for his health, but the Church cannot continue without its structural leaders. Cardinal Pamelita is in seclusion for an indefinite period.

Therefore, we have no effective leadership of the Curia. The term ends at the end of the month, so a new Dean must be elected, and the corresponding election procedures and nomination phases initiated.

This is naturally done by the Vice-Dean, who is currently unavailable. I also do not expect Adonnis to return spontaneously.

There are now two options that I have already discussed with His Holiness Sixtus.

We agree that the most efficient approach (since it makes sense in terms of time) is for Sixtus himself to initiate the election process.

The alternative would be for the Curia to appoint an election supervisor, which can only be generated through debate (5 days) followed by consensus or election. Ultimately, it might take up to 14 days before an election supervisor is even appointed to initiate the process.

This takes a very long time. Therefore, Sixtus and I agree that it makes sense for him to conduct the elections 'extra ordinem.'
