----------------------------------⊰Priestly ordination of Wedzimir Lubomirski - 01.06.1472⊱
------------------------------------------------------
After having privately visited his new titular basilica in Rome, Cardinal Sforza returned again to organize the rite of the priestly ordination of a Polish believer who had decided to put himself at the service of the Holy Aristotelian Church.
Going to meet the religious who took care of the basilica he greeted them kindly then asked them to accompany him so that everything was ready for the rite. The ancient basilica, already richly decorated with mosaics and marble, had been embellished with precious tablecloths and candlesticks on the altar.
Having verified that everything was in order, the prelate accompanied by the clerics of the basilica retreated to a side chapel to await the start of the liturgy. _________________

Wedzimir arrived at the basilica, his heart filled with anticipation. He entered quietly, looking around for any familiar faces among the attendees. The significance of the day weighed heavily on him, but he felt a deep sense of purpose. After a brief moment of silent reflection, he prepared himself for the ordination ceremony that would soon begin. |

Granius also arrived at Wedzimir's ordination at the Basilica. She was no longer young, so the discomfort of the journey took its toll on her, but it was worth it. This was not the first time she had attended such a ceremony, and the basilica itself inspired her admiration.
The interior of the Basilica dazzled with opulence and majesty. The high vaults were adorned with magnificent mosaics depicting biblical scenes, full of colors and intricate details. The walls were lined with gleaming marble, which reflected the light of hundreds of lit candles, giving the interior a warm, golden glow. Splendid frescoes decorated the ceiling, and richly carved columns proudly rose, supporting this architectural gem.
The altar, the central point of the Basilica, was adorned with precious cloths and candlesticks that gleamed like jewels. The golden liturgical vessels shone, and the beautifully embroidered vestments of the clergy added charm and solemnity to the ceremony. The organ, placed in the gallery, filled the space with powerful sounds that rose to the vault, creating an atmosphere of sacred rapture.
Despite the hardship of the journey, Granius felt that it was worth coming to this holy place. Surrounded by such beauty and a solemn atmosphere, she could fully appreciate the significance of the ceremony and feel a deep spiritual connection to this exceptional event. _________________

Another visit to the Roman basilica, this time with my spouse. I'm bursting with pride. Recently, Wedzimir told her that he had completed his studies in Rome and had begun preparations for the ordination ceremony. And now, together with Kasjan, I could take part in the Wedzimir ceremony that my husband had once dreamed of for himself. |

Father Cinead of Twynholm, freshly appointed as the Chartulary for the Anglophone Region, embarked upon a journey that would take him far from the familiar, windswept shores of Scotland to the heart of the Church, Rome. His mission was of great import: to witness the ordination of a young Polish man named Wedzimir, whose fervent spirit and dedication had marked him as a servant of God, soon to be anointed into the priesthood.
Cinead’s arrival at the grand Basilica was nothing short of awe-inspiring. The towering edifice stood as a testament to the glory of God and the enduring strength of the Church. As Cinead made his way through the massive bronze doors, his eyes were drawn upwards to the intricate frescoes that adorned the ceilings—Dogmatic tales that seemed to come alive under the flicker of countless candles. The coolness of the stone beneath his feet provided a stark contrast to the warmth of the congregation, a sea of faces lit by both candlelight and fervor.
Among the esteemed guests was Cardinal Francesco Maria Sforza, the High Apostolic Commissioner, whose presence lent a gravitas to the occasion. The cardinal, a man of both profound faith and considerable influence, was to personally perform the sacrament of ordination. His richly embroidered vestments caught the light as he moved with a grace befitting his station, ready to welcome Wedzimir into the priesthood. _________________

It was rare for Kalixtus to leave the confines of his own basilica. In fact, he couldn’t even remember the last time he had visited one of the other titular basilicas.
This made the moment particularly special. However, the cardinal had to acknowledge something else, something slightly offensive. He had educated Wedzimir and shared his wisdom with him. He had supported him and spoken on behalf of his and Poland's interests. Indeed, he had even baptized him. Apparently, though, he wasn’t important enough to receive a small invitation to Wedzimir's ordination. One might almost think that the interest in a closeness to the wisdom of his congregation and the access that Kalixtus could grant had been almost entirely replaced in favor of another.
The thought of this, how should we call it, "reduced foresight" left a bittersweet taste in the cardinal’s throat and a gentle smile on his lips. His steps were clearly audible as he walked from the beginning of summer into the coolness of the basilica, his light, blood-red silk robes billowing around him, making him appear like a black and red cloud in the half-light of the basilica. Only his strictly slicked-back and tightly braided long hair, a golden pectoral cross resting on his chest, and his hands folded together gloomed out of him like signatures and underline the knowledge of his appearance.
His deliberately slow steps, always exuding confidence and dominance, could still be heard in the basilica for a while until he reached about halfway into the church. There, he sat down at the edge of one of the pews and observed the events at the front. He was not a guest, and so he did not sit with the guests, and he was probably neither particularly desired nor welcome. Nevertheless, he would follow and internalize the ceremony in all due silence. This was a lesson in which, for once, the cardinal would learn something – about human nature. _________________

Seeing the slow steps of the cardinal, I couldn't help but sigh. His appearance commanded respect – long, meticulously braided hair, a golden pectoral cross gleaming on his chest, and his silk, blood-red robes billowing behind him like a cloud in the half-light of the basilica. Every step he took exuded confidence and dominance, making it impossible to take one's eyes off him.
Instead of sitting with us, the guests, he took a seat on the edge of one of the pews, halfway through the church. His presence was silent yet palpable, as if he were observing everything from a distance.
I sighed quietly, breaking my thoughts. I focused on prayer, trying to calm my mind and heart. Despite the unusual situation, the cardinal's presence reminded me of the spiritual depth of this moment. His solemnity and calm, though somewhat overwhelming, brought me into a state of reflection.

Kobus entered the temple quietly, looking around. At the front he saw a slightly nervous Vedzimir, and just behind him sat Mr and Mrs Lubomirski. As he passed in a wide arc along the pillars of the basilica, surrounding the pews, his gaze was caught by the cardinal's robes of Kalixtus.
Cardinal , who had taught him and then baptised him. He smiled to himself, remembering those beautiful days.
He took a seat next to his godmother and relative Granius Rakowska. He bowed low and whispered something in Granius' ear, then a smile appeared in both of them.
Kobus knelt down and silently concentrated on prayer, reflecting on his life so far. _________________

Ywette entered the Basilica quietly. She walked slowly, looking around and admiring everything she saw. It was her first time here, so she was curious about everything. She saw guests praying in the pews. She looked at Cardinal Kalixtus again with admiration. She then walked up to her godmother and squeezed into the bench, taking a seat next to her. She looked at Wedzimir with pride, wondering when she would be able to be in his place. She bowed her head and devoted herself to prayer. _________________

Wedzimir found himself in a state of quiet reflection amidst the grandeur of the basilica. He looked around and, with great pleasure and gratitude, recognized all the familiar faces who had come to share this important moment with him.
His gaze then fell upon Cardinal Kalixtus, and a wave of regret washed over him. Wedzimir had not considered that he needed to formally invite the Cardinal to the basilica, and now, realizing his mistake, he felt deeply sorry.
Wedzimir bowed his head in silent prayer, acknowledging his mistake and hoping for forgiveness. He felt the weight of the moment and the sacred responsibility that lay ahead.
Since everyone was present, his focus shifted back to the solemnity of the ceremony, where he would soon take his vows. |

The ceremony is about to begin everything was ready and the Roman basilica was packed with faithful, who also came from Poland to participate in the sacred rite.
The bells began to ring in celebration when the clerics with the thurible, the processional cross, the candlesticks came out of the sacristy in procession followed by other clerics, prelates and finally by Cardinal Sforza who presided over the liturgy.
The procession went along the entire central nave and reached the altar that the cardinal incensed and then reached the chair.
Having arrived on site and finished the sacred hymn, Cardinal Sforza, spread his arms and began by saying:
"Our help + is in the Name of the Lord"
"Who made Heaven and Earth" the faithful answered.
the Cardinal sat on the chair while a cleric came forward and, reading from the book, said in a loud voice:
"Let those who are to be ordained presbyter come forward." _________________

Wedzimir slowly rose from his chair. With a deep, calming breath, he stepped forward to stand before Cardinal Sforza, his posture humble yet resolute as he prepared to embrace his new spiritual journey. |

Cardinal Sforza looked at the ordinand and then asked in a solemn tone:
"Wedzimir, what do you come to ask in the abode of the Most High?" _________________
