Why the old architecture doesn’t seem to honor God enough and how a temple could embody the principle of the four elements and the Ether
Should the material realm imitate the spiritual one ? Well, my dearest reader, I’m just a humble priest but I was always quite frustrated by the medieval temples of our Faith. They seem to have been built on ideas that don’t visualize the Glory of God!
Am I wrong?, maybe, but let me say my erroneous thoughts aloud.
Shouldn’t the temple of God incarnate our great philosophical concepts?
Traditional churches are built in a Latin cross with the altar at the end. We are all used to it but I’m quite frustrated by such a layout! Oh yes, it’s very practical but should we really design the temple of the Almighty on mere practical considerations?
Shouldn’t the Temple be built around what constitutes our world? Shouldn’t we design them around the idea of the four main elements of the material realm (fire, air, earth and water) centered around the ether, which binds everything? Or am I wrong? Probably.
So I have done a sketch visualizing what may be my dream of a temple for God! I see a building inspired by the architecture of our Forefathers and not the brute forces of the previous centuries. I want the building to be centered around the ether, the altar and a dome lifting the eyes to the heavens. Four adjoining structures shall represent the four elements.
And the altar should also incarnate the four elements with the Light of God in the center
