The Dutch cleric, Leopold de Ligne, Bishop of Utrecht, entered his newly purchased residence. Since he had to travel a lot between his hometown Utrecht in the imperial county of Holland and the papal city of Rome for his work as prelate of the Holy Roman Aristotelian Church and in the congregations a shelter was needed. Before he acquired this "palazzo", as the Italians call it, he was dependent of friends and their generosity. He didn't want to continue to bother his dear friends and a Roman residence of his own was a necessity. Here, he could also store his paper work, instead of leaving in different desks at the congregations, causing him to sometimes lose documents.
The "palazzo" was in perfect state, and until a month ago occupied by an elder Italian nobleman who had died. The first thing he did was visit the house chapel. A beautiful wooden door shielded the sacred room from the rest of the house. He opened the heavy door and entered the chapel, which was illuminated by the stained glass windows depicting saints. He took some time to admire the chapel before kneeling down before the altar and praying.
He prayed for the soul of the previous owner of this house, for his hometown Utrecht and it's parishioners, for the Church in Holland and for his family, the Imperial House de Ligne.
He finished his prayer with a soft whisper.
Amen. _________________
