Reforms in the Casa dei Delfini

Rome, August 1469.

The Casa dei Delfini was not only the residence of the Baron de Monterado in Rome, but it was also part of the patrimony of the pontifical barony. It had been a couple of months ago that Baron Legrat had come there to meet the former lieutenant of his fiefdom, and since then he has not returned; occupations in Castile, a war, hosts and men to attend, everything seemed to have conspired so that Enrique did not return to Rome for a long time.

However, he had to return to attend his offices at the Nunciature. He was an apostolic ambassador, and was accountable to his superiors.

Through some letters he had asked the master builders of Monterado to appear on the property under his name in Rome, he knew that some repairs had to be made to put it in value and be able to stay there with his future wife. Some structural repairs had to be made, some things changed, others repaired.

The tapestries would be changed, the furniture would be renewed and new valuables would be brought to decorate the rooms; all following the orders of the Legrat. The Monterado and Cifuentes accounts were producing good numbers, and this was evident in the obvious repairs not only to the Casa dei Delfini, but also to the Monterado Castle and some other villas that were part of the estate of the fiefdom.

Enrique arrived at his residence smiling, even when the inclement summer sun toasted the nape of the neck and overwhelmed everyone.
