Noi, Alfonso Augusto di Foscari Widmann d'Ibelin, come Cardinale Arcidiacono di Roma,
A nome dei Cardinali della Santa Chiesa Aristotelica riuniti in Sacro Collegio, davanti all'Onnipotente e sotto lo sguardo di Aristotele, per grazia di Dio e di Papa Innocenzo VIII,
Abbiamo stabilito e ordinato, e con il nostro presente editto perpetuo e definitivo, diciamo, stabiliamo e ordiniamo l'accettazione delle dimissioni di Edoardo Borromeo Galli [ Egal ] dal rango di Cardinale Romano Elettore e Prelato Plenipotenziario.
In conseguenza delle sue dimissioni viene anche rimosso dalla sua posizione di Decano del Sacro Collegio.
Confomemente al Can. 5.II.10.3, il Sacro Collegio ha deciso di nominarlo cardinale romano emerito per i suoi anni di servizio presso la Chiesa e gli augura una buona continuazione.

Avons statué et ordonné, et par notre présent édit perpétuel et définitif, disons, statuons et ordonnons l'acceptation de la démission de Edoardo Borromeo Galli [ Egal ] du rang de Cardinal Romain Électeur et Prélat Plénipotentiaire.
À la suite de sa démission, il est également démis de ses fonctions de Doyen du Sacré-Collège.
Conformément au Can. 5.II.10.3, le Sacré-Collège a décidé de lui nommer Cardinal émérite romain en raison de ses années de service auprès de l'Église et lui souhaite une bonne suite.

In the name of the Cardinals of the Holy Aristotelian Church gathered in the Sacred College, in front of the Almighty and under the gaze of Aristotle, by the grace of God and the Pope Innocent VIII,
Have ruled and ordered, and by our present perpetual and final edict, say and order the acceptation of the resignation of Edoardo Borromeo Galli [ Egal ] from the rank of Cardinal Roman Elector and Plenipotentiary Prelate.
Following his resignation, he is also dismissed from his position as Dean of the Sacred College.
According to Can. 5.II.10.3, the Sacred College has decided to appoint him Cardinal Emeritus Roman because of his years of service with the Church and wishes him a good continuation.
