All at her preparations, she was surprised by her beautiful one who came to kiss her. Not that she was surprised by her presence, but surprised because she had her mind elsewhere. Hardly a word exchanged than already the trumpets announced the arrival of His Holiness. She looked in turn at her singers and smiled at them, then with a nod and a slight movement of the hand, she gave them the impetus to start the Tu es Petrus.

Thus, monitoring the tempo of her singers and the advance of the procession, she was able to wedge the hymn in the footsteps of the Holy Father and have it completed as soon as all the Cardinals and the Master of Ceremonies were in place.

***

.
Tu es Titus, et super hanc petram
      Aedificabo Ecclesiam meam.

Now the sacristy was full of clerics: cardinals and bishops with their miter on top of their heads, dressed in colorful brocade robes and damask silks; also many priests and deacons who waited at their posts for the beginning of the procession. Felipe was also dressed in his white albae and a red roman dalmatic with golden stripes. He held in his hands the miter of the Holy Father, who at that time had the triregnum on his head. The young cleric wore a vimpa, a white cotton stole-shaped cloth, to avoid touching the miter with his bare hands.
Et portae inferi non praevalebunt adversus eam:
      Et tibi dabo claves
      Regni coelorum.

The doors of the sacristy opened and the sedarii raised the pontiff who was sitting in the gestatorial chair, then the procession began to walk with the smell of incense in the air and the heavenly music of the Choir Master, Ariana.
      Quodcumque ligaveris super terram,
      Erit ligatum et in coelis
      .

The procession moved slowly through the great nave of the Basilica of Saint Titus. Felipe could see his sister near Cardinal Arnarion and greeted her smiling, happy to see Inés there on that important day for all Aristotelians. He was very proud of her and her decision to embrace the true faith with the conviction and enthusiasm of youth. The boy was walking a few steps behind the gestatorial sedia while hundreds of faithful crossed themselves when they saw the Holy Father before them, so close.
      Et quodcumque solveris super terram
      Erit solutum et in coelis.

Cardinal Astuzia enters in the basilica blessing with both hands, to left and to right and throwing few random words.

Glory to the Most High!

Long life to the Pope. -without exaggerating, however-

Amen!

So, as a sower throws seeds in field at random, so he, between a gesture and a word, he goes through the entire nave and goes to hide among the other cardinals.

The little marquise looked around enthusiastically. The ceremony soon began and so Ines kept her eyes open. She began to move her lips, as if she was also singing the same verses as the others, when the reality was that she hardly knew what they were singing. A gentle smile remained on her face, outlined as if the angels had bestowed their grace on her. Then she saw her little brother, wearing the usual things he used to wear behind the Pope. She saw how he greeted her, so she greeted him back, happy.
Then she looked at Cardinal Valyria, grateful that he accepted her company on that day which was so important for the Aristotelians. She remained formal and polite, and like a faithful duck, continued after Arnarion (mother duck) helping him in everything His Eminence needed.

Melian had followed her husband, accompanied by their four children and three servant ladies to channel everyone without too much difficulty. She had put on one of her favourite outfits made by Sister Adelheid.

When they arrived, they were shown the places assigned to them and they took their places peacefully, discreetly greeting those present without disturbing them any further.

As the service began, the whole family became attentive.

______________

The elderly cardinal was ready for the papal procession, he had worn, over his Dominican habit, the cape and the purple cap. He waited for provisions on when and where to move, meanwhile he clung to the pastoral staff, a relief for his bad legs.

*************************

It was a young bishop in full doubt who had taken the road to the Basilica, answering the call of her friend, her sister at heart, Constance. Doubt not of her vocation, for the moment it was one of the few things she was certain of, but of herself in fact.

Yet it was with a joyful heart that she was coming. She was happy to be able to attend a service in this wonderful basilica in the capital of Aristotelianity. And she was also happy to know that Constance's years of effort and investment would be rewarded.

She had travelled through Rome with the eyes of the childhood she had just left. She had lost her way a little too, so much so that the press was getting bigger and bigger. People of all kinds, horses, vehicles from the simplest to the most luxurious. And finally, the square in front of St. Titus' Basilica.

She stopped, sighed with relief at having found the place. She then noticed that some people recognized her bishop's habit, and greeted her or bowed down. She answered them with smiles and kind gestures, although she was uncomfortable about it. She loved people. But she didn't consider herself superior, she was their servant.

She managed to find her way to the holy place and then looked for Constance. She finally saw her, and sat down next to her with a broad smile, just before the service began.

To participate in the mass was a duty. The Pontifical Viscountess had just entered the Basilica, greeting the Most High with the sign of the Cross, before settling down, waiting for the ceremony to begin.

----------------------------------------

How did I manage not to see my friend arrive? Probably I was too lost in thought to achieve it, but when it was done, my smile became as radiant as the Sun. With pleasure I take her hand and shake it gently, as a sign of my affection. She is a Bishop and I should kiss her fingers, but here, my friend is there and there is no question of rank between the two of us. His hand in mine, I smiled widely before transferring my attention to the ceremony that was about to begin.

I am really happy that she is there, near me. My sister, my friend, the only person outside my family, whom I sincerely love, is there with me. In a whisper, releasing my hand gently, I add a single word in a low voice.

Thanks

The Cardinal followes the procedure of the liturgy and smiled cause all are in need to do their job. He bowed in the apse and spoke the formulas that usually fell over his lips. He took a seat among his cardinal brothers and followed the ceremony with his usual dignity and attention
