Formal reprimand for refusing lawful access
To the Order of the Gregorians
His Eminence Adelène de Kermabon, Cardinal - Archbishop of Bordeaux, Rector of the Gregorian Order and Confessor to the Sovereigns of France.
Your Eminence Cardinal Adelene,
In my capacity as Prefect of the Holy Roman Regular Chapter, I regret to inform you that I am obliged to issue a formal reprimand to you and the Order of Gregorian Chant.
Through your direct intervention, I have been denied access to areas that fall under the supervision and jurisdiction of the Regular Roman Chapter. This action constitutes a clear violation of canon law, in particular with regard to my duties under the Code of Canon Law, Book II, Article 10, which states:
"The Prefects shall cooperate with the Chancellors and their subordinates, in accordance with the instructions of the former, to ensure the smooth functioning of the Congregation and their respective offices."
Cooperation and proper access to facilities and resources are not acts of grace, but obligations arising from the nature of ecclesiastical office. Denying access not only hinders my work, but also undermines the legitimate authority and order established in the CIC.
I therefore hereby request that you grant me unrestricted access in accordance with my jurisdiction and issue appropriate instructions to all members of your order to prevent further violations. Should this or similar disregard for ecclesiastical order occur again, I expressly reserve the right to take further canonical action.
In anticipation of your confirmation and future cooperation, I remain
with the necessary seriousness and in faithful devotion to Holy Mother Church.
