The great oaken doors of the Hall of Heraldry creaked open, echoing gently beneath the vaulted stone ceiling. Sunlight filtered through the tall stained-glass windows, casting vivid coats of arms across the tiled floor in shifting hues of gold, azure, and crimson.

Victor Hiroshi Soga, modestly cloaked in dark wool, advanced with measured and calm steps. The air was thick with the scent of old parchment, beeswax, and incense. Around the hall, clerks and scholars in tabards embroidered with intricate seals murmured softly as they worked. At the far end, beneath the great seal of the College, sat Her Excellency Ines, Prefect of the College of Heraldry, at a finely carved writing desk, quill in hand and gaze alert.

Hiroshi bowed respectfully before speaking.

Hiroshi:
"Peace be upon this House. I am Victor Hiroshi Soga, citizen of Lodi. I come humbly to present myself as a candidate for apprenticeship within the Pontifical Colleges of Heraldry."

He produced a neatly folded letter, bearing the wax seal of the Diocese of Lodi. Her Excellency Ines received it with a composed nod, broke the seal, and read the recommendation written in a firm and elegant hand.

Letter of Recommendation:
"To whom it may concern within the Collegium Heraldicum,
I, Monsignor Ferecide Buonaguidi, Bishop of Lodi, commend to you the bearer of this letter, Victor Hiroshi Soga, whose conduct and disposition mark him as worthy of formation. Though he has not yet received instruction in the heraldic tradition, he possesses the eye of a designer and the patience of a scholar. I trust he will be well shaped by your venerable institution."
