Forgive the intrusion. I have a question. Is the cardinal Luznik still alive? Is he bishop (real bishop or In Partibus bishop)?

Since the death of Cardinal Sylarnash, things have become... like this. We have shortage of clergy even to perform mass.

Cardinal Luznik is still alive, but not active.

Archdiocese of Braga:

Archbishop Monsterguid is in charge. Out of 4 parishes, 2 are without priest. The Archbishop is absent.

Diocese of Coimbra:

Bishop Money_of_poors is in charge. Out of 3 parishes, 1 is without priest.

Archdiocese of Lisboa:

Archbishop Arturrebelo is in charge. Out of 5 parishes, 2 are without priests. Mass was being secured in these last 2 by the Archbishop before the war came and then it was impossible to travel safely. The diocesan council was entirely exonerated for uselessness and inactivity - they were appointed by previous Archbishops only to get points and go to level 4. If there were clergymen available, 2 priests would also be exonerated - don't answer to mail or do anything appart from mass.

Diocese of Guarda:

No Bishop. At least 1 parish is without priest.

Archdiocese of Évora:

No Archbishop. The diocese is in state of complete abandonment with the population crying out for priests for their churches.

Seminar of Viana do Castelo:

Rector Nreis is in charge. The information I know more than anyone outside the clergy is the one which gets to the room of this Assembly, which is none. Nreis is perceived as active, but there is no recorded public activity in the Seminar since the beginning of January.

National state of the Church:

There is no leadership. The state of abandonment is perceived both internally and externally. Not even I know who is leading this Church and I am an Archbishop. This Assembly is inactive since the death of Cardinal Sylarnash who was the Primate. After his death, the presidency went to Cardinal Monsterguid, who is now absent but only him can carry out the election of a new Primate since he is Primate de facto for being the highest authority as Cardinal, in replacement of the late Cardinal Sylarnash.

The sense of powerlessness is now constant, at least in my case. The church needs major structural changes to renew its image, restore its influence and atract more people to the clergy. We have far too many offices vacant. But for that to be enacted, we need a strong leadership. The bishops cannot do much individually - I tryed to launch some of these changes but had not much adherence since it was not a national initiative. Any initiave will only be heard if it comes from this very Assembly with all the bishops backing it.

Regarding the specific question of Cardinal Luznik: he is not a real bishop and I couldn't find any information of being bishop in partibus so I don't think he is.
