The feast of Saint Titus is approaching and as it is customary, it is our wish to ennoble those faithful who have proven their attachment to the Faith and the Church.
This year in particular, given the great challenges that our faithful have been forced to face for their devotion, we wish to ask all the bishops to put forward the names of the faithful who deserve a decoration.
You, brothers and sisters, are of course also encouraged to do the same, providing the necessary motivations as usual.

Pour ce faire, nous vous prions, vous, nos plus proches conseillers, frères et sœurs dans l'épiscopat, de bien vouloir faire parvenir à Son Éminence Roderic d'Aleixar Batista [ Roderic_ ], au plus tard au vingtième jour du mois de juin, par lettre privée, les noms des fidèles que vous jugez dignes de l'honneur de la noblesse ou d'autres décorations. Ces noms devront être accompagnés d’une lettre motivant les raisons de cette proposition et faisant l’apologie des bonnes actions et mérites du fidèle proposé. Chaque évêque est ainsi invité, s’il le souhaite, à remplir cette tâche personnellement, ou a partager ses avis au sein de son Assemblée Épiscopale.
Précisons que nous souhaitons honorer en premier lieu les fidèles laïcs, notamment ceux qui ont résisté aux tentations de l'hérésie et du pouvoir dévoyé, mais nous n'oublions pas les serviteurs de Dieu dans le sacerdoce. Le cas échéant, si nos fidèles conseillers les évêques, jugeaient bon de proposer un prêtre, ils n’hésitent pas à le faire.

Élévation à la noblesse de quelques-uns de nos fidèles à l'occasion de la Fête de Saint Titus
Donné à Rome, le XXVIII juin de l'an de grâce MCDLXXI.
De tout temps l’Église a pu compter sur des hommes et des femmes de grande renommée et de grande vertu pour remplir Son devoir et assurer le magistère divin dont Elle est la gardienne. Ces fidèles parmi les fidèles, parfois issus de grandes lignées ont témoigné envers Nous, Nos prédécesseurs et la Sainte Institution, une loyauté sans faille et dont les anges chantent au pied du trône de Dieu les louanges. Issus bien souvent de la noblesse, ces fidèles témoignent de l’amitié et du devoir commun qui échoit entre autre à l’ordre noble et du clergé dans sa mission de protéger le faible et l’orphelin. Considérant Notre devoir de récompenser ceux qui, par des actes sincères et honnêtes, se sont rendu dignes de Nos faveurs, Nous avons décidé d’accorder des lettres de noblesse à certains de ces gens sur les conseils du Sacré-Collège des Cardinaux et pour les nombreuses raisons qui sont les Nôtres, à eux et leur descendance et, pour certains, en mémoire de leurs ancêtres.
De Notre grâce spéciale, sont distingués par des marques d'honneur et de noblesse,

Per aspera ad astra
Elevation to the nobility of some of our faithful on the occasion of the Feast of Saint Titus
Given in Rome, the XXVIII day of June in the year of grace MCDLXXI.
At all times, the Church has been able to count on men and women of great renown and virtue to fulfil Her duty and ensure the divine magisterium of which She is the guardian. These faithful among the faithful, sometimes coming from great lineages, have testified to Us, to Our predecessors and to the Holy Institution, an unfailing loyalty whose praises the angels sing before the throne of God. Often coming from the nobility, these faithful bear witness to the friendship and common duty that falls among others to the noble order and the clergy in their mission to protect the weak and the orphan. Considering Our duty to reward those who, by sincere and honest deeds, have made themselves worthy of Our favour, We have decided to bestow letters of nobility on some of these people on the advice of the Sacred College of Cardinals and for the many reasons that are Ours, to them and their descendants and, for some, in memory of their ancestors.
