He entered the hall shortly after the doors had opened, pausing for a brief moment at the threshold, as if allowing the place to settle before stepping fully into it. The light reflected softly upon the marble, and the silence carried a certain order - almost something to be respected.

Then he moved forward at an unhurried pace.

His gaze soon found Monsignor Ferecide. He approached without haste and inclined his head in a measured, respectful bow.

- Monsignor. Thank you for the invitation. This place… carries the right kind of weight.

He did not linger, mindful of the other guests arriving. With a slight nod, he stepped aside, leaving space for others to approach.

As he passed among the attendees, he greeted them with brief inclinations of the head and quiet glances - present, yet never imposing. He allowed himself to blend naturally into the gathering, guided more by the atmosphere than by any desire to stand out.

He eventually slowed near one of the columns, taking a place slightly aside, from where he could observe both the hall and those who filled it.

On the day of the exhibition's opening, Cardinal Sforza left the palace accompanied by his secretary to attend the inauguration of the new portrait gallery at the Roman museums.

He had heard a lot about the project and was curious to see the results. Art was a formidable means of communication, not only for what it represented but also for the profound meaning it sought to convey.

Reaching the entrance, he greeted the guards and found the gallery already crowded with prelates, nobles, and others people. "A good sign!" he whispered to fra Eugenio, his secretary.

Tancredi walked along the streets of Rome, intent on reaching the museum. The fresh spring air caressed his face; it was going to be a pleasant, sunny day. When he read the announcement of the exhibition, he was immediately intrigued; he couldn't wait to admire the paintings.

Cinead of Twynholm arrived without ceremony, as though he had long since passed the threshold in spirit before ever setting foot within the hall. There was no pause to mark his entrance, no drawing of attention to the moment itself; rather, he was simply present among the gathered, as a thread woven quietly into an already forming tapestry. He moved at a measured pace, acknowledging those near him with small inclinations of the head, his expression gentle and attentive. His gaze lingered not upon the grandeur of the place, but upon the people within it—observing, considering. In time, as the murmur of voices turned toward matters of purpose and shared labour, he offered his thoughts, neither loud nor insistent.

“Where folk gather to name their purpose, there is aye a temptation to speak finely, yet leave the substance wanting. But when men and women take care to bind their words to their conduct—there, one finds the beginning o’ true concord.”

He folded his hands lightly before him.

“A mission is no strengthened by its wording alone, but by the constancy with which it is lived. And values, if they are to endure, must be made visible in the smallest dealings between companions—else they remain but ornaments.”

His eyes moved briefly across the assembly.

“If this company has come to share not only its aims, but the manner in which those aims shall be pursued, then it has done a worthy thing. For it is in the daily conduct, more than in any declaration, that unity is proven.”

With a quiet nod, Cinead yielded the space once more, content to let others speak, his presence returning to that same unobtrusive stillness.

As Branwyn entered the hall. The black dress she had chosen was in keeping with refined Italian fashion and exuded a quiet elegance. The fabric draped heavily yet softly, simple enough not to appear ostentatious, yet refined enough to do justice to her rank. She wore her red hair loosely pinned up at the nape of her neck, so that individual strands fell softly around her face.

She entered with calm steps, her back straight, her chin slightly raised, without a trace of arrogance. She did not come across as someone who took up space. Rather, she seemed like someone to whom the space was naturally yielded.

Her gaze swept over those present, and she gave everyone she met the attention they deserved. Polite, friendly, and with the respect that rank and person demanded, she bowed her head, offering a few warm words here, a respectful greeting there. Never too much, never too little. Branwyn understood that form of interaction which was neither cold nor obsequious, but simply dignified.

When she caught sight of Father Ferecide, her face visibly brightened. She walked straight towards him and offered him her hand with sincere warmth.

“Father Ferecide, I thank you most sincerely for your invitation. It is a pleasure to be here today.”

Her voice was, as always, calm and clear, carried by that deep, warm tone that conveyed both comfort and strength in equal measure. She paused for a moment by his side, meeting his gaze with sincere appreciation, before turning once more to the other guests to greet them too with that polite naturalness that was characteristic of Branwyn.

An exhibition… in Rome… Now there’s a perfect opportunity to stretch one’s legs. And to spend a few long hours chatting away amidst the clatter of rustling clerical robes. The idea was to pay homage to the Princes of the Church. Most of them were in an advanced state of mummification. The rest would surely follow them one day, sooner or later. Would there be anything new to see? What fate had befallen Pius’s portrait? Had it simply been removed, covered with a black cloth, or had it been taken down, torn, trampled underfoot, smeared with excrement? Were we to witness some spectacle, some eccentricity?

Curiosity alone made the journey worthwhile for Cardinal de Kermabon.

Arriving at the Museums for the inauguration, upon the kind invitation of Mother Branwyn of Hohenzollern-Habsburg, he entered alongside his wife.

He greeted those he recognized with a nod, exchanging a few measured words without lingering too long.

Then, together with his wife, he took his place, letting his gaze drift over the works and the hall as it slowly filled.

Considering the increasing number of visitors, and exponential probability of the occurrence of a physical state, highly regarded as negligible by most men during many hours of the day, but being able to become of essential importance in this noble gathering, even able to compromise the physical well-being of the illustrious and highest members of European clerical nobility, yes, this state, that most simply call : hunger, Julian decided to unleash the nuns.

A group of elderly and pious nuns came forward, bringing on silver plates golden cups of white wine from Monfefiascone and herbal tea from the abbey of Holy Margareda, accompanied on ceramic bowls with olives from Firenze, so that this most honorable gathering could refresh and restore their body to the state of plentitude.

Enraptured, Luna entered the Palace alongside her husband. Her heart was beating faster than usual, as if every step was bringing her back to a part of herself she had thought long lost. How much she had missed Rome… its streets, its scents, and above all its Museums, silent keepers of stories and wonders. This one in particular, she was certain, would leave her astonished: from the very first halls, one could breathe a solemn, almost sacred atmosphere.

The high walls, adorned with ancient frescoes, seemed to watch her as she moved forward, while the soft light filtering through the windows caressed every detail, making everything more vivid, almost unreal. Luna paused for a moment, allowing that splendor to fully envelop her.

She was deeply happy that Branwyn had invited them.
When the nuns began to bring in the food, with discreet and orderly movements, the aroma of the dishes spread through the hall, warm and inviting. Instinctively, she tightened her grip on her husband’s arm, seeking in that gesture a sense of steadiness, a silent complicity.

Then she looked around, her gaze curious and attentive, searching for familiar faces.
A faint smile brushed her lips: perhaps that evening would give her far more than she had imagined.

As Branwyn caught sight of Carlo and Luna, she turned toward them without hesitation. A warm smile touched her features, clear enough to show how genuinely pleased she was by their presence.

"Carlo. Luna. How lovely to see you here."

When she reached them, she greeted Luna first, then Carlo, with a warmth far less formal than her rank would have required with others. There was sincere pleasure in her voice.

"Thank you for accepting my invitation. It means a great deal to me that you came. I hope your journey here was a pleasant one. If you have not yet found accommodation, I would be glad to invite you to stay a few days at my palazzetto and from there explore the beautiful city of Rome."

Her gaze rested on them for a moment, attentive and kind. Then she noticed that the wine was being served. With a calm motion of her hand, she beckoned one of the nuns over.

"Sister, would you kindly bring us some of the wine?"

As the nun approached, Branwyn turned back to the two of them.

"You must tell me later which work caught your eye first. I am not entirely sure whether I fear honest answers more than I value them."

She said it with a faint, warm trace of humor, then looked at Luna and Carlo again with her full attention, clearly pleased by their presence.

Monsignor Ferecide, knowing that his right hand man Father Julian would take care of making the wait more bearable, took the time to greet singularly all the faithful and clerics who took time out of their busy schedules to show up at the exhibition. Seeing these many people coming to admire the latest collection was a great pride and a great joy, and a clear signal that art is always a common ground for different souls.

After all the people present had received his warm welcome, he moved to the center of the hall and started speaking:

Eminences, brothers and sisters, I welcome you all to the Museums. We will wait just a couple more minutes before I present the latest collection, but in the meantime please enjoy the wine, the herbal tea and the olives; and if you have any particular needs, Father Julian and me are at your service to make your time here the most enjoyable possible.

Cardinal Asburgo d'Argovia did not let slip the chance to hide his own inadequacy—or at least to loosen his stiffness—with some good Montefiascone wine (never was a name more fitting for a wine‑growing locality, perhaps surpassed only by Soave). After thanking a withered little nun for the refreshment, he began to sip the wine.
