Appointment of the Prefect of the Office of the Index
We, Francesco Maria Sforza, Cardinal-Bishop of Saint Adonia of Trastevere, before the Most High and under the gaze of Aristotle, in Our quality of Archancellor of the Holy See,
Have ruled and ordered, and by our present perpetual and final edict, rule and order the appointment of Půta Švihovský z Rýzmberka [Puta_z_ryzmberka] as the new Prefect of the Office of the Index.
In his capacity as Prefect of the Office of the Index, he has a duty of monitoring the archiving and indexing as well as updating the registry. He must also ensure that the work is properly coordinated between archivist and the authorities issuing the measures. The Prefect certifies, upon request, whether or not there is a name in the index.

Given at Rome, in the Palazzo della Cancelleria, on the sixth day of November of the year of Our Lord MCDLXXIV. VIII of the Pontificate of HH. Sixtus IV and the VI of the Age of the Restoration of the Faith.
